Message sounds like a no-brainer, but trade in your cheapo Fram filters for an Nissan OEM oil filter and throw in some Mobil 1 Synthetic...it works! I've been puting up with lifter tick for the last two years, and now it's completely gone, even on cold starts!!

As a related question, when I swapped the oil and filter and started the car, I was getting this irratic lifter sound for the first two hours or so before everything settled and all sounds dissipated, any idea what could have been happening mechanically for that sound to occur(I mean in detail, I know that the oil was just settleling).
